Any parent, guardian or other person having care, custody, or control of a minor child who in good faith is under treatment solely by spiritual means through prayer in accordance with the tenets and practices of a recognized church or religious denomination shall not, for that reason alone, be considered in violation of this section.
I had to read it multiple times before I could accept that such stupidity had actually been made into law. Yes, this is a state law ladies and gentlemen.
Parents who treat their children for a medical condition by DOING NOTHING shall not, for that reason alone, be considered neglectful.
Virginia protects the right of crazy religious inbred rednecks to withhold medical treatment from a child, but it won’t allow gay people to marry.
