Well, the blog is up. I guess it’s time to write something, so welcome to Shadow Casting….
Yep. We’re another activist blog. but we hope to fill a niche that seems a bit vacant at the moment.
On the one hand, we have the atheist, freethinker groups, and on the other hand we have the feminist, queer, and generally progressive groups. Sure, there is some overlap. Most freethinkers support feminist causes, LGBT rights, etc. We would like to see even more.
To put it another way…
Religion is the enemy of civilization and freedom. Wherever religion is allowed to rule, people suffer.
Women have been little more than property for most of history due to the authority of religion.
Sexuality has been denigrated, and anyone who does not fit into an arbitrary sexual norm or restrictive gender role has been tortured, beaten, and murdered.
Freedom of thought and of conscience has been crushed.
It is time to go on the offensive. To undermine religious belief as a means to social change. To remove the blanket of moral authority that the religious have wrapped themselves in, and expose the moral ugliness that lies beneath.
So welcome aboard. We have a lot to do. Stay tuned, for there is a lot more to come.
P.S. If you have been made to feel like crap for most of your life by various religious people, we actually have some good news. Religious people are wrong about everything else, you can rest assured that they are also wrong about you.
